Exciting time to be a NP in NC!
Posted over 10 years ago by Jean Davison
Greetings from Jean Davison, DNP, FNP-BC:
It was great to meet many of you last week at the NPSS 2015 event. Please let me know how I can help as your Regional liason person. I hope everyone can be a voice and advocate for NPs through out NC to move us forward!
Below is a posting from Sara Hubbell on the recent legislation introduced:
I wanted to share the exciting legislation that the NC BON is supporting that has been introduced by Senators Hise and Pate in the NC Senate on 3/30.
It is a Modernization of Nursing Practice bill that among other things, modernizes regulations for various APRN groups in the state (NP, CNM and CNS). Part of the modernization for NPs would remove physician supervision. It also moves regulations of APRNs solely under the BON. This is on the heels of the study conducted by the economist, Dr. Chris Conover, from Duke that found significant cost savings for the state if regulations were modernized.
Here is a link to the Bill (S695) - it was introduced and referred to Senate Health -

If you would like more information about this please let me know.
There is much work to be done but this is an exciting time to be a nurse in NC!
Cheers,
